The 1st COMPRO Workshop “Clean Technologies for Buses” was held in Nantes in March, 4 2008. The aim of the workshop was to allow participants to: - Discuss and debate with manufacturers on clean technologies for buses (mainly CNG and hybrid) and their future development. Several European manufacturers such as Volvo, Irisbus, Bredamenarini, Evobus presented their projects for both hybrid and CNG technologies.
- Share visions on the future of clean vehicles. The workshop featured organisations, such as the UITP or the ADEME (French environmental and energy management agency), capable of giving a general picture of what is happening in the Union on this topic.
- Find out about the innovative experiences in the field of hybrid and CNG conducted by several European cities and regions: Gothenburg, Emilia Romagna in Italy, Lille and Nantes in France, Bremen in Germany.
The workshop has been successful, both in terms of attendance (almost 90 participants coming from 10 different European countries) and content, allowing cities and operators to cross their expectations with the R&D state of the art of bus manufacturers and the vehicles available today and in the following 5 to 10 years.
Also, the organisation of the first COMPRO official event helped increase the visibility of the project at a national and European scale.
